Ballet/Tap (4-5)
A fun introductory class for preschoolers and kindergarteners that will introduce students to dance. Creative movement and activities help introduce the beginning fundamentals of ballet & tap. Students also learn basic positions of the feet & arms, play games which enhance cognitive & social development, learn French vocabulary and classroom etiquette.
Ballet/Jazz (6-8)
This introductory dance class focuses on the basic dance techniques of ballet & Jazz. Students will learn basic positions of the feet & arms, short dances and play games that prepare them for further dance training. Students also learn classroom etiquette as well as French vocabulary used in ballet and jazz dance. |
Ballet
(6-8)
In this class, students will be introduced to basic ballet fundamentals, including body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of the feet & arms as well as short dances and classroom etiquette.
(9-11)
This class will be centered on more intermediate dance technique. Students will move through barre, center work, & progressions which will help with body control and alignment. It will include basic turns, jumps, & leaps.
(12+)
Being a framework for various other types of dance, this class will help with body control, alignment, and vocabulary. Students will learn the classical style of ballet through academic techniques and French terminology.
This class is great for a beginner or a dancer who wants to refine their technique.

Hip-Hop & Jazz
Hip-Hop/Jazz (6-8) This class is designed as an introduction to basic jazz technique and high energy basic hip hop, the latest trends, & exciting dancing moves, focusing on basic jazz positions, turns, jumps, & leaps. Students will also learn center and locomotor progressions as well as proper stretching techniques to enhance strength & flexibility. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.
Hip-Hop/Jazz (9-11) This class will cover Hip-Hop and jazz fundamentals for the beginning jazz dancer, but will be taught at an intermediate level. While some students have no prior dance training, others will have several years of experience. Students will advance with their own ability levels through center work & progressions. Past hip hop experience is great, but even beginners will have a blast in this fast paced, high energy dance class which introduces basic hip hop, the latest trends & exciting dancing moves. Dance conditioning will be introduced to strengthen the body for more advanced hip-hip training. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.
Hip-Hop (12+) Designed for the high school dancer, this high energy dance class will go more in depth with hip-hop training, including the latest dance trends and dancing moves. This class is great for the student who just wants to come & get funky as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip hop skills. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.
Jazz (12+) Enjoy the freedom of expression in this class where students will be exposed to the ever-changing world of jazz dance. This is an upbeat class focused on building core dance muscles through different movement techniques and exercises. Break free from the confines of other dance disciplines and increase your individuality as a dancer.
Contemporary Jazz** (12+) Learn the unique movements that have become well known in the media in this newest form of jazz dance. Dancers will improve their strength and technique through across the floor exercises, which lead to advanced dance combinations. This fast paced class is meant for dancers with previous jazz experience. |
Musical Theater & Ballroom
Theatre Dance (8+) This class uses a jazz and ballet base of dance and then incorporates vocals and showmanship. Solo, duet, trio, and ensemble numbers help kids to learn proper stage use and etiquette. There is also a theatre component that will encourage growth as individuals and actors. See description below (Theater Class).
Swing/Ballroom/Latin Combo (13+) Each month students will focus on a different style of dance. For teens styles include east coast swing, traditional waltz and tango and the Latin styles of salsa and cha cha. Proper technique and etiquette of each dance style will be the focus of this upbeat and fun class.
Swing/Ballroom/Latin Combo (18+*) Each month students will focus on a different style of dance. For the adults the Latin styles include Marenge and Rumba. The traditional style is Fox Trot while the last month will focus on dancing at weddings. Proper dance etiquette and technique will be the focus throughout this fast paced, high energy class.
Theater Class So you want to be on Broadway? The McLaughlin Studios Musical Theatre Program can get you on your way. This class is your first step to becoming a triple threat performer: unparalleled actors, singers, and dancers! Musical theatre classes bring the exciting world of Broadway to life. You will focus on scenes, songs, and choreography from musicals old and new. Topics learned will include: bringing characterization to a song and choreography, defining a character, vocal techniques, and mastering the various musical theatre techniques and styles. In the beginning levels, technique and style will be introduced with steps such as bevels, camel walks, pirouettes, and extensions. In the more advanced levels, various styles, advanced technique, turns, extensions, jumps, and vocal performance will be the focus. Both ensemble and solo performance work will be fostered and encouraged. Learn audition techniques and a variety of repertoire. |
* Adult classes are 18 years and older. Younger students may be enrolled with approval from teacher.

Dress Code for Classes:
A modest dress code is strictly enforced by all students and teachers at the studio. All clothing must be modest, with no spaghetti straps unless a leotard or sports bra is worn underneath. There are to be no bare midriffs. Sports bras are required ages 9+ or otherwise needed for modesty. All costumes will model these same guidelines and will be age appropriate. The following guidelines should be followed when dressing for class:
All Classes: Hair must be secured off the face and neck. No Jewelry. No outside shoes. Do not wear your dance shoes outside, on the street, in the parking lot, etc. They are for the dance floor only!
Combination Classes: Any color leotard and tights. Please no jewelry & no baggy attire. Students may wear ballet or jazz shoes to class, but must have tap shoes for tap classes.
Ballet: Ballet students must wear a black leotard and pink tights and ballet shoes to class. Hair must be pulled back in a bun (off face). Ballet skirts, warm-ups ok.
Jazz Classes: Leotard and tights of any color or comfortable dance clothes to move in. Shorts over leotard ok. Jazz pants ok. Jazz shoes are required.
Hip Hop Classes: Comfortable clothes to move in. Please no jeans, no skirts, and no jewelry. Students must wear jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. No street shoes. Hair must be secured off the face and neck.
Theater Classes: Comfortable dance clothes to move in. Jazz shoes required. No jeans or skirts please.
Swing/Ballroom/Latin Combo Classes: Comfortable clothes to move in. Jazz shoes or character shoes only. Do not wear shoes in the street, parking lot, to school, etc. Shoes should be for dance floor only.
Adult Classes: Jazz, comfortable dance clothes to move in. Ballet class requires black leotard and pink tights, Ballet skirts and warm-ups ok. Ballet shoes required for ballet class. Jazz shoes required for jazz class.
Tap Classes: Leotard and tights of any color. Dance shorts may be worn over leotards. Dance (jazz) pants ok. Tap shoes are required. |
